Symphony of my Own Trip Through the Looking Glass

It starts out with a normal run, not really feeling like it in the heat of the day after a long Monday at work, but knowing God's called me for a run with Him... the light turns green I press play on my iPod.

"Apperception" begins to play, & so the story begins to unfold within my mind's eye...

(sorry I couldn't find the song I heard online but here's the infomation for it, my version is 6:01 long)
Song: Apperception
Various Artists
Album: Trance Stimuli

We start our life like a run, were going slower than we'd like...not too super enthused really, just trying to get through that day, hour, moment of time that is our life. Were moving in our own power, trying to keep ourselves motivated in going forward despite a good reason for it...and then God comes.

He reveals Himself, the answer...we stop focusing on the motion, the surroundings, the heat, we stop focusing on ourselves and look to Him.  We feed off Him, becoming more energized as we go, more curious of who He is, of His love. The run, our lives, becoming focused on finding out more about Him, growing closer to Him. With every step we take He pushes us forward, leaving His footprint behind us.

But as time goes, somewhere along the lines we lose focus, we start to see less of Him too much of ourselves, our own false perceived power and feeling of control, too much focus gets put on our speed, our own holiness, we begin to breed self righteousness and we lose sight of Him. As we run along, not even realizing His light growing lighter, fading with time.  Not even feeling the drag in every step as we go along...until it hits us, we're alone.

We're lost.

We backtrack, trying to discover when we lost Him, but He cannot be found in the places of our past.  We press forward, with caution...it getting darker as we go. Suddenly we see a small side trail, rough and unpaved, we must have passed it the first time.  Slowly turning from the main trail, turning from the comfort of the path of the world into a trail unknown.

As we run, sunlight unseen, blindly pressing forward into unknown. Having to trust that He is with you, guiding you despite the fact you can't feel Him.  You trip over branches and roots dispersed randomly throughout your path. Falling, cutting your face, you're knees...you begin to cry out to God, within yourself, within your soul.  With all emotions and feelings within you, hurting and alone.

Rain begins to fall, lightly at first, slowly. But it picks up, and through the heavy downpour, you begin to feel something, you feel Him. And with each drop He washes away your blood, your dirt. He cleanses your scars and your spirit. The sun breaks through the rain and you feel His energy again, as you press forward with your run.  This time letting Him guide you.

"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."
Proverbs 14:12 KJV

As I ran today without my glasses or contacts, the fuzziness made each step I took feel a bit harder to take, probably because I couldn't clearly see my future ending destination.  All object in sight are closer than they appeared.  It reminded me of that verse in the love chapter:

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." I Corinthians 13:12 KJV

And it's so true, especially for the times we live in now.  This life makes me feel like Alice and the Looking Glass sometimes.

Always at war the the Red Queen & White Queens-one of my own mind, and one of the world trying to sway me by 'relentlessly confound me by using word play to thwart my attempts at logical discussion.' As I grab hold of the red queen and shake her with all my might, the Red King of all Kings and LORD of all Lords finds me and we go in checkmate [His death on the cross, His blood cleansing me from all unrighteousness] and one day I will be released from this temporary sleep and wake up to spend eternity with Him!

(and while I've never fully read the books, now I want too!)

Your Breath Takes My Breath Away

Your breath takes my breath away,
blowing oh so gently through every strand of hair,
numbered and named by You.
Walking underneath Your covering,
part of me yearns for You,
in ways which are incomprehensible, untouchable.

Only You understand this feeling from within.
A love deeper than I can fathom grabs hold of my soul,
through the quiet I hear you,
through the forest I see your face,
as it smiles upon me.
The warmth of your embrace.

Take time to love me,
take time to notice I'm there.
To feel my presence within you,
beside you,
before you,
following after you,
protecting you,
holding you.

You are the peace amongst the chaos of my inner spirit,
Calming the storm within my mind's eye.
Grasping hold of the only true parts of me,
piecing me, molding me back together into the shape of Your palm,
each crease and wrinkle defining who I am.

How can we feel alone?  Today I realized that alone is not a state of being of a state of mind. We can be physically alone or alone within a crowd, alone within our minds.

I needed peace.  His peace.

Walking on the trail today, absorbing Him, getting some quality God time in where I feel the most at peace. I could feel Him there, just loving me,
enjoying me.

I needed that, I needed the warmth of Him and His love, His presence.  There I finally grasped the concept that every time I felt alone in my life,

He was there.

I felt the sadness He felt as I ignored and rejected His love so I could cry in my self-imposed misery.   But even with all that, His overwhelming love and affection comforting me, pressing us forward.

No, I wont live in the past mistakes I've made. I wont dwell on the pain of my own past, but on the pain of His as we continue down this nature trail, trees and nature singing His praises...as we walk hand in hand.

running here until you make me move

*Originally written on March 2nd, 2011*

Thanks for the Lord blessing us with such glorious weather today I went for a trail run today, a God run...something I've missed for quite some time.  I went with nothing, no gear-just Him, me, hair down, running shoes, the Silver Comet Trail, & nature. No music, no heart rate monitor, no water belt, just me.

At first it was difficult to get into, which bothered me, God has really been speaking to me about seeking Him and Him FIRST in my life, so since I was out there, running for Him, where was He? Where was the magic?  I kept going anyhoo, and finally started hearing Him in little pieces. He wanted me to enjoy the nature...that was afterall why I left my music at home and yet, I was, too concerned about whether I was going to go 6 or 8 miles to even really listen to it. Where was my passion for the run itself?  Where did it go? I was more concerned with how much I was going to accomplish, how far, and when it would all be over...

Then it hit me, that's my problem, and that's a great deal of the world's problem.

It reminds me of a book I read (imagine that lol) by Kurt Vonnegut called Slaughterhouse Five.  In the book Billy Pilgrim, an American soldier during WWII, becomes 'unstuck' in time and instead of having time exsist for him in a linear form, it is more like a spot, a period, a sphere in which past, present, and future all coexsist.  Whenever he wishes, he can 'jump' from his present situation into a previous time or future time in his life.

I think too many of us are living our lives this way today. We spend the now either 'jumping' back into our past sins or in the tomorrows planning on after God finally comes through and does this, when this happens-too many 'one days' and never fully enjoying the mere seconds we are wasting away living in moments that don't exsist.

Each of us has our own yellow brick road we travel upon, and as children of our heavenly Father, every brick that we step beyond slowly falls away and vanishes.  Our purpose upon this road isn't the emerald city (or golden city for us) that awaits us, its the follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road, follow follow follow follow follow the yellow brick road. Its the act of the traveling that matters most, how we travel, and who we meet and minister to along the way, who we bring along with us on this journey to meet a God much more mightier than any false wizard.

As I listened to the birds singing and gazed upon the sun settling down behind the trees and hills, God's glory began to be revealed as little drops of gold speckling the path in front of me. He broung a song to mind, one I've not put much thought into for quite some time.

Lifehouse - Hanging By A Moment lyrics
Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I'm closer to where I started
Chasing after you
I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

Forgetting all I'm lacking
Completely incomplete
I'll take your invitation
You take all of me now...

I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you

There's nothing else to lose
There's nothing else to find
There's nothing in the world
That can change my mind
There is nothing else
There is nothing else
There is nothing else
Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I'm closer to where I started
Chasing after you....

Just hanging by a moment (here with you)
Hanging by a moment (here with you)
Hanging by a moment here with you

This song really speaks to me, exactly what the Lord was trying to convey...I sang it to Him with all I could, hanging on every step I took.  And in response He told me to cherish Him, cherish who He is, cherish His amazing love, His amazing grace-how sweet the sound that saved a rech like me and you.
LORD, help me to live in the moment, for that is all we are promised.  Help me to live in the now, guide me blindly forward Lord, I want to see with Your eyes and not my own!  Reveal to me the true depths of how inifinte Your love really is-as much as humanly possible at least.  I want more of You, all of You!  I want to soak You in as I do the sunshine and drip of Your Spirit like a pouring rain gently falling upon every fiber of who I am.

Just be with me and be with me always, O LORD! Love me oh my Abba, Father!  Guide me Holy Spirit!

Comment from original posting:

I love your insight! This is something that God has been dealing with me for a while, and it’s so hard to just live in the moment sometimes and just bask in His presence! But what matters most is that we love Him and others with all our hearts, and like you said, ministering to others along the way :)

You are...

You are my DJ

You are the music

You are the bird singing out to me

You are the distance

You are my endurance

You keep me going

You are my path

You are my choice

You are the embracing breeze

You are the heavenly light above

You are its warmth

You are the warmth within me

You are the sweat that makes my face shine in the sun

You are the beat in my chest

You are the beat between my feet

You are the beat within my heart

You are the branch reaching out to touch me

You are the my starting line

You are the prize at the end

You are my partner

You are beside me

You are before me

You are my rear guard

Your glory surrounds me

Your love is within me

Your essence I feed on

You are my reason

You are my purpose

You are my all

You are I AM!
